What to do in the event of an accident

Always get into a safe position and away from the risk of other traffic before you start exchanging details.

  1. Make sure that your vehicle is safely secured and that car keys are removed from the vehicle.
  2. Notify the relevant Emergency Services where there has been an injury, or if there is a dangerous situation.
  3. Never discuss who is at fault at the scene of the accident.
  4. Exchange names, addresses and phone numbers with everyone involved.
  5. Exchange registration numbers & make/model of all vehicles involved.
  6. Take pictures of the vehicles and the registration number of the vehicles.
  7. If safe to do so also try to take pictures of the accident scene.
  8. If there are any witnesses get their names, mobile number and their address.
